21st Anniversary CMJ Convention Showcase

On October 18th, 2012 Skateboard Marketing Ltd. celebrated their 21st Anniversary. The radio promotion company
held in style their annual CMJ Convention Showcase at Webster Hall NYC in the Marlin Room. This year the company
split the showcase with ReverbNation and Horns Up Rocks Magazine. Geoff Tate did a surprise 25 minute set for the
first part of the private industry function. It took the audience by surprise to see him walk up on stage and start to perform.
The set-list included "Got It Bad" which is on (Dedicated to Chaos) "Helpless" (Geoff Tate Solo) "Out of Mind" from
(Promised Land) "Grain of Faith" (Geoff Tate Solo) and "Silent Lucidity" from (Empire) The set was nothing short of
Brilliant.
Doors were at 7:00 PM for the 3 artists that showcased this year. Slam One Down from New Jersey won the
ReverbNation/Skateboard Marketing/Horns Up Rocks unsigned artist spotlight contest. The 3 companies decided
to look for an artist to expose and showcase them for the industry. Syracuse, NY hardcore mavens Freya also
graced the stage with a 35 minute set. ReverbNation who picked the Headliner "Killcode" gave an immense
performance.
The bar for the private pre party was sponsored by Budweiser & Monster Energy Drink. Jagermiester also had their
Jagerettes in the room handing out lots of merch and keeping everyone happy. Special thanks go out to Paul Gargano
from Century Media Records for making Geoff Tate Happen. As well as Heath Miller from Excess DB Entertainment
& Damien Mitchell Almost Famous Photography for getting some great photographs.
